The general name for radiation in the ultraviolet electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths between 100 and 400 nanometers. According to the CIE (International Commission on Illumination) classification of ultraviolet ranges, they can be divided into UVA (320 - 400NM), UVB (280 - 320NM) and UVC (100 - 280NM). Principle of operation

UV radiation is a safe, effective and thorough disinfection method; The UV sterilization method involves irradiating and destroying the DNA and RNA of bacteria and viruses. Zones of ultraviolet radiation (UV radiation) cause irreversible damage to the DNA molecules of microorganisms, as a result of which they cannot reproduce and ultimately die.


Compared with residual chlorine (chloramine), ultraviolet rays are healthier and have no side effects; Ultraviolet combined chlorine (chloramine) technology, resulting from chlorine disinfection, is the cause of chlorine odor in the air in indoor swimming pools. Chloramine also causes eye pain, and skin allergies are also a leading cause of corrosion of composite structures in indoor pools. Ultraviolet rays not only decompose chloramine, but also self-clean. No microbe is immune to ultraviolet radiation, not even some pathogens that chlorine cannot kill.

Installation Attention

2. Ultraviolet lamps are very harmful to human eyes and skin during operation, so do not look directly or stand in the area illuminated by ultraviolet lamps. If you accidentally burn your skin or eyes, please go to the hospital in time. Damage manifests itself as eye pain and peeling of the surface of the skin.

3. After receiving the equipment, please open the box in time to check whether the accessories are complete and the quartz tube of the lamp is not damaged. This should ensure that the hardware installation cycle is not affected.

4. The equipment must have enough space for installation. There must be a clearance of at least 1.1 m on the side of the luminaire to facilitate subsequent removal of the luminaire and replacement of accessories.

5. After installing the equipment, you must first turn on the boiling water to ensure that the equipment does not leak, and then turn on the power and turn on the switch of the device. Due to the strong heat dissipation of ultraviolet lamps, it is therefore prohibited to light the equipment first and then turn it on, otherwise it may easily cause damage to the equipment!

Effect of temperature on the output of ultraviolet rays

The UV output efficiency of low pressure mercury lamps is directly related to the mercury (saturation) pressure, which in turn depends on the temperature of the cold side of the lamp. UV light provides maximum output efficiency at around 40°C, as shown in Figure 28. Circulating air has a large effect on pipe wall temperature, and using a higher voltage can compensate for the cooling effect of the air flow (or lower ambient temperature). Water is more convenient for ultraviolet sterilization, and the average size of suspended particles in water should be less than 30 microns.

4 - Exposure time
